Mathias Taylor, Tate Elementary, had a hard time getting out of the car in the morning during morning drop off. He formed a bond with Mr. Stephens and only wants him to get him out of the car. Mr Stephens was busy one morning and wasn't out in car riders so someone else got Mathias out of the car. Mathias was sad and wanted Mr. Stephens. When Mr. Stephens heard Mathias was sad, Mr. Stephens came to his rescue.

PCSD wishes all of our students, staff, and their families a happy Thanksgiving.

First grader, Lorenzo Trossarello, from Hill City Elementary surprised some of our teachers with bright yellow flowers "just because." Mrs. Smith, his first-grade teacher, Mrs. Richards, our music teacher, and Mrs. Hardison, our media specialist, all received a little sunshine to brighten their day.

Gavin Adams, from Tate Elementary was teaching a child who had never played UNO how to play, he was so kind and patient as he helped him. When the child who didn't know how to play played a card without Gavins help Gavin was so excited. He cheered for him and said "Ms. Wendy, he knows how to play now". He had the sweetest smile as he said it, he was truly proud the child was understanding the game.
He also often gives his chair up for children who are standing as we are playing UNO. He has the sweetest and kindest soul.

PCSD's Clean School Spotlight goes to PHS’s Clean Bathroom Committee. This is a group of students who want to better Pickens County High School by improving the conditions of the restrooms. They believe that providing a more appealing campus will create a sense of pride in the student body and cut down on vandalism and destruction of property.

During breakfast, Savannah Pedine, a third grader at Hill City Elementary, saw a kindergarten friend struggling with her hair bow. In a quick and simple act of kindness, she jumped up and helped perfect her hairstyle, showing that it doesn't take much to be kind.

All Pickens County Schools and the Central Office are closed this week, November 25th - 29th, for Thanksgiving Break.

Did you know? 1 in 7 children (6-12) are suffering from tooth pain right now. Over 51 million school hours are lost each year due to poor dental health. And, over 50% of children on Medicaid don't regularly see a dentist.
Help a Child Smile dental services addresses these concerns by offering in school dental care at no cost to the school. Parents and guardians can sign up your children today but talking with your child's school nurse. Help a Child Smile will be coming back in the spring!

We know how things can get crazy this time of year. That's why we're looking ahead and making note of some important dates.

Focusing on the continued progress of a classroom's education, these teachers play a vital role in maintaining high levels of education in every school system. PCSD appreciates you!

November 21st is National Parent/Guardian Involvement Day, a day when we recognize the contributions of parents and guardians in schools and highlight the importance of family involvement in education. It is also a reminder that parental involvement is crucial throughout the entire year.

Education Support Professionals Day (ESP Day) is a day to recognize and appreciate the contributions of education support professionals (ESPs) to public education. ESPs are the people who keep schools running smoothly, including bus drivers, custodians, food service staff, administrative assistants, bookkeepers, and more. They make up over 40% of a school's staff, but their work is often overlooked. Today is your day and know that everyone in PCSD appreciates you!

Clarisse Robison and Emma Dilbeck at Tate Elementary are on their way to get the red transportation folder from the office.
