Pickens County Schools Teachers Selected as Fellows in the 2019 Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows
Pickens County School District is eager to announce the selection of three teachers from Pickens Junior High School as Fellows in the 2019 cohort of the Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows. These teachers representing PJHS were selected as one of 9 schools in the program’s fifth cohort and will join over 120 teachers from the program’s first four cohorts. The teachers selected for this honor are William Gay, Daniel Johnson, and Cynthia Swisher. The Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows is a competitive, three summer, two school year program that seeks to improve STEM teaching and learning for all students, especially underserved populations in STEM. Congratulations to these teachers!

REACH- Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen
REACH GA partners with eligible school systems to become a REACH participating school system. REACH school systems identify academically promising middle school students with a financial need who are then selected at the local level by community members and school personnel to become REACH Scholars. Donors partner with Pickens County School System by contributing money for the scholars. Pickens High School STAR Student Dale Smith
The Optimist Club of Jasper announced senior Dale Smith the 2019 PAGE STAR Student. Dale selected Dr. Kathy Daymude, a math teacher at PHS, as his STAR teacher. PHS Esports Rocket League Team Advances To State
The Pickens High School Esports Rocket League team is playing in the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) state championship June 16th at 4 PM. The team from PHS will be playing Calvary Day School of Savannah, GA. This is the first year the GHSA has included an Esports category in athletics. The match will be held online and played in a lab at PHS. The public is invited to attend and support this exciting event. Those wishing to participate should report to the front entrance of the high school at 3:45 for directions to the classroom. The public may also view the action online at twitch.tv/playvs.
PHS Cheerleaders Hold Cheerleading Clinic July 15th - 18th
The PHS Cheerleaders will be holding their annual cheer clinic for ages 4 through 12. Students will learn cheers, jumps, tumbling, dance, and stunts. See links below for more information and registration.

Welcome to Pickens County Schools! Our Central Registration facility is located at 158 D.B. Carroll Street, Jasper, Georgia. The Registration Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 3:00pm and by appointment.
The information below is necessary to register a student in the Pickens County School System:

Pickens County Schools use Infinite Campus as our Online Grading and Student information system. Parents are allowed to establish an account or reset their password by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. (This email must be sent from the parent or guardian email address listed in student's records.) If you need to update or change student information or email addresses, please send signed note to student's school.
The School Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.
Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act includes the Child Find mandate. Child Find requires all school districts to identify, locate and evaluate all children with disabilities, regardless of the severity of their disabilities. This obligation to identify all children who may need special education services exists even if the school is not providing special education services to the child. The IDEA requires all States to develop and implement a practical method of determining whichchildren with disabilities are receiving special education and related services and which children are not. (20 U.S.C. 1412(a)(3); Wrightslaw: Special Education Law, pages 72, 206-207).

Spot Light on Attendance
Parents please write a note if your child is sick. All excuses must be provided to the school within 5 days of your child’s absence.
The Pickens County Parental Responsibility Act (Truancy Ordinance Section 42-7) allows for a child to miss (5) unexcused days.
