Pickens County School District’s 4-year graduation rate tops the state average once again.

Pickens County School District’s 4-year graduation rate tops the state average once again. For the class of 2023 the state’s 4-year graduation rate was 84.4%, the graduation rate for Pickens High Class of 2023 measured 89.81%

“We are proud of every student who graduates,” Superintendent Dr. Travis Thomas said.  “Our graduation rate is a testament to the dedication of all of our teachers and staff, our students’ families, and our community partners and volunteers.  Together, we are guiding our students towards our goal of having every student enrolled, enlisted or employed upon graduation.”

Georgia calculates a 4-year adjusted cohort graduation rate as required by federal law. While all states use the same calculation, each state sets its own requirements for students to earn a regular high school diploma. Georgia has some of the highest requirements in the nation for students to graduate with a regular diploma. Georgia also calculates a 5-year rate, which tracks those students who need additional time to graduate. The state’s 5-year average will be released at a later time. Pickens High’s Class of 2023 5-year graduation rate was 93.46%.
