Every September, the Georgia Board of Education (GADOE) releases the final numbers for that year's graduating class's performance on the SAT, and while the state average has consistently outscored the national average, Pickens County School District students have also scored higher than Georgia's average.
Every September, the Georgia Board of Education (GADOE) releases the final numbers for that year's graduating class's performance on the SAT. For the sixth year in a row, Georgia’s public school students outperformed their counterparts in the nation’s public schools on the SAT with a mean score of 1045, which is 42 points higher than the national average of 1003.
While the state average has consistently outscored the national average, Pickens County School District students have also scored higher than Georgia's average. Today, we are proud to announce that Pickens High’s Class of 2023 continued a tradition of beating the national and state.
"I cannot say enough about how proud I am of our teachers and the entire Team. The commitment to high-quality classroom choices, supported by our Board, is a primary factor that has led to our students beating the national and state average SAT scores,” Superintendent Dr. Travis Thomas praised.
With an average score of 1052 out of a possible 1600, Pickens Class of 2023 bested the national average of 1003 by 49 points and the Georgia state average of 1045.
Additionally, Pickens Class of 2023 recorded a mean score of 539 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW) portion of the assessment, and a mean score of 513 on the math portion. That's compared to averages of 510 and 493, respectively, for students in the nation's public schools.
