How to Create a GA Futures Account
The "How to Create a GAFutures Account" document will help you create your GA Futures Account. This is a necessary step in the Dual Enrollment process, tracking your HOPE GPA (which is different than your overall high school GPA), and will also help you keep track of various tasks in your college application journey.
HOPE GPA
Please visit GA Futures for HOPE GPA and State Aid Programs.
High schools do not have the ability to calculate students’ HOPE GPA. The GSFC (Georgia Student Finance Commission) does this. PHS submits student transcripts to the GSFC twice each year, at the end of January and at the end of June. The GSFC then calculates all students' HOPE GPA in the state of Georgia. Thus, the overall cumulative GPA on a student’s transcript from PHS IS NOT THE SAME as the student’s HOPE GPA calculated by the GSFC. Please use your GAfutures account to keep track of your HOPE GPA which the GSFC calculates. Your HOPE GPA is calculated by the GSFC as follows:
Academic core courses only (English, math, science, social studies, and foreign language).
GSFC strips away all weights that high schools add for Honors, AP, and/or DE courses.
GSFC adds back 0.5 quality points up to a 4.0 for AP and DE only (not honors).
Please visit GAFutures for more information on the HOPE GPA and other state financial aid programs.
GEORGIA MATCH
GEORGIA MATCH is a program started by GAFutures and the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) as a simple way for students to learn where they are eligible for admission to college, based on their HOPE GPA through 11th grade.
GEORGIA MATCH letters will be sent out from the GSFC (not the student’s high school) in October to all GA high school seniors and their families. The colleges listed on your GEORGIA MATCH letter and your GAfutures Student Dashboard are an academic match based on your HOPE GPA and they are holding a spot for you in their Fall 2025 Class. GAFutures and the GSFC created a way for students to request information from prospective GEORGIA MATCH colleges and claim a spot for admission to the GEORGIA MATCH college of choice.
Students should visit the GEORGIA MATCH webpage to review FAQ's to answer questions and navigate to their Student Dashboard to view a PDF of their letter and list of colleges on their letter. If a student does not receive a GEORGIA MATCH letter after October, they should let their PHS School Counselor know.
More information and resources regarding this incredible program can be found at www.GAfutures.org/GEORGIAMATCH.
