CCGPS High School Science

The Department of Teaching and Learning is committed to the successful implementation of the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards in the area of English language arts and reading. This curriculum promotes high expectations for its teachers and students and results in meaningful student learning. All students must have the opportunities and resources to develop the language skills they need to pursue life's goals and to compete in a 21st century workplace.

CCGPS 9th - 12th Grade

Students in a science classroom are actively engaged in the hands-on exploration of the world around them. The Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) are the foundation from which all instruction is built. Utilizing teaching strategies influenced by Webb's Depth of Knowledge, students are equipped to understand scientific concepts, develop higher order thinking, and inquiry-based skills. The students learn subject matter disciplines in the context of inquiry, technology, personal and social perspectives, and the history and nature of science. The addition of lab experiences and a hands-on approach utilizes explorations that investigate and analyze scientific questions.
